doomerism on main, uspol, mh - - - rant
Look, I was there to protest Iraq War II, and it went forward anyway and afterwards everyone forgot there were protests. For Occupy Oakland and SF, and everyone was really optimistic, finally us peasants were joining together, finally we'd do something about it. It wasn't long after that Occupy was dissed as an aimless ineffectual movement. Everyone thought a Black president would change things, it didn't even with the Black dude being straight up the second best public speaker I've heard even in recordings. I was excited about Sanders, and then THAT got downplayed as us being misogynists.
Then years after an experience in Oakland really soured me on BLM, I protested and threw money towards bail and hospital expenses in 2020, and everyone was really optimistic, the little people were coming together as a community, and guess how that turned out?
Now I'm hearing the same rhetoric about Minneapolis (surely they didn't stop fucking with LA, SD and DC in this time did they?) and you'll pardon me if I'm really skeptical.
