please understand this is the most devout I've been since I left for college - before then, religion wasn't really a choice - and consequently this is the first time I've really looked into what I can eat during Passover.

this morning I've come to the conclusion that "Ashkenazic" describes Jews who believe God doesn't want you to enjoy food.

@Leucrotta

If it's just during Passover then maybe they just want you to think hard about some really terrible food to remind yourself how good normal food is when you can eat it again?

@anthracite I mean in general, Sephardic food is worthy of whole really good cookbooks, and what Ashkenazim have going for them is mostly baked goods.
