Solstice thought

We are used to thinking of this as a bad time; cold, dark, Christmas is in full swing, and then there's politics. It's natural to look to returning light for hope.

I wanted to point out that our earth is resting. Fields need to be fallow, trees need to be bare, birds need to be elsewhere, mammals need to be in hibernation or topor, so they can do the rest of the year. More heat and light can be as terrible too. Darkness, cold and death can mean much-deserved, much-needed sleep.
