Ok so; the NSDAP started as the political arm of the Thule Society, which had wacky ideas, f’rex Germany’s connections to Indo-Europeans and Tibet, or they were sure legit mythical stuff existed beyond the atmosphere.
Hitler was not a Thule member but Himmler took it very seriously. He recruited into the Society and then the SS a scholar named Otto Rahn, who literally wrote the book about whether the Holy Grail wound up at Montsegur.

And like you probably guessed I researched this looking for stuff I could use for a Call of Cthulhu game (and might yet).

Rahn didn’t find the Grail. He was also Gay, so they penalized him by making him a guard at Auschwitz, and after a year he dropped out of the SS utterly horrified and either killed himself or was assassinated. After the Germans took over France they did flybys of Montsegur and searched the ruins, but they didn’t find this mythical thing. Outside of that and the Heck cattle most Nazi archaeology weirdness is actually pretty dull racism.
