At Naka Sushi in Capitola and realizing;

1) sumitori don’t have particularly good traps because they don’t really have to lift *up* but everything else on their backs is ripped.

2) this is amazing and I think I just am not used to sushi this quality.

@Leucrotta We need to get to Sushi Hanabi, over in Pleasanton. ^_^ (Another friend - who introduced me to the place - is quite a fan, and wouldn't need persuading)

All the usuals, but also some /creative/ rolls, some including heat, one with pesto, and more - and they work! And "Jin's Taco", primarily crab w/little mayo, dash of Sriracha, chopped tuna, scallions, sesame seeds, in a lettuce leaf. It's pretty wonderful. (And cheap!)

@porsupah I actually really tend to go for nigiri, I’m not as much about combining flavors usually, would you believe? That said I’m a sucker for rolls with fried stuff!

@Leucrotta In /that/ case, you might really dig their "toro hamachi". =:9 It's hamachi, but grown and handled in such a way that it's remarkably similar to toro - possibly even better, and certainly cheaper. And they have other interesting items on their specials menu, including Hokkaido scallop, which I didn't get to try when I was around. =:P

(And they have a couple really nice Japanese beers, too - not the usual, but from a microbrewery, inc a lovely wheat beer!)
