Gonna put Krull on hold for the time being. I got 35 minutes in, which means remarkably little has happened, certainly nothing that suggests actually compelling characters.
@wolfteeth watching it again (well the beginning - I might get back to it later) I'm struck by how completely flat the characters are. I swear this would be a good movie (albeit with kinda unconvincing effects) if I could only give a clusterfuck about any of the characters!
I think this emphasis on story and characters is proof that I'm getting old or something.
@Leucrotta admittedly for me the dated special effects are part of the draw. like it looks incredible even if it's not photorealistic!
@wolfteeth Krull doesn't have the best effects of the early 80s, but it's somewhere closer to Willow than to Beastmaster (I loved Beastmaster, but let's face it, it's not a good movie). I can buy that and keep moving. Seriously the characters are the thing that fall flat here.
@Leucrotta krull is a very silly movie. kinda hard to enjoy on a totally serious level - i think it's fun though!
