Mechanical Rabbit Joke: Chipped a Tooth
Well, chipped a cutting surface, any how. Grain pattern looks odd - bad case harden, maybe? Looks like a clear delamination between the harder outer sheel and the softer inner. https://awoo.space/media/OxL2ZvBgvoU1MR1RiwA
@mawr Haven't the faintest. I'd expect there are knockoffs all over the place, tho, and I know 'resourceful' our parts scroungers can get... so I'm actually vaguely pleased to see the inside isn't pot metal or depleted uranium.
@Momentrabbit Hm. I'm always curious to learn where a part's steel originates. It's such an ancient technology and yet to this day, the material quality varies wildly from country to country.

@Momentrabbit ... yeah, that looks far more to be a problem with the smelt than any stress you put on it. The cut looks clean.

@JulieSqveakaroo Yeah, s'about what I was wondering.
@Momentrabbit Yeah, that definitely doesn't look like wear. Any idea what the country of origin might be?
