The most fundamental and liberating thing is when you realize that you're not bound by male hierarchies of power, and an Assigned Role within.
Of course, once you've studied the whole problem thoroughly enough, you start to realize that stepping outside those boundaries can be done in any direction.
Or put another way, folks expects you to come out of the closet through the Door. Nobody expects you to bust through the plaster into the master bedroom and take the fire escape up to the roof.
