When the greek gods made Humans, they envisioned a being with four arms, four eyes, both genders, both sexes, who could think rationally and feel deeply at the same time, who could work Magic and Bronze with equal skill...
And realizing they had created something more Perfect than themselves, split the creatures in Two, Male and Female, incomplete creatures.
I suppose some of the prototypes must have survived.
