unlike most fae, merfolk are not harmed by exposure to iron, and even enjoy working and handling it. they do, however, display a strong aversion to lead, and have a mild distaste for tin.

there need to be charts of metal compatibility with various creatures

all we really know for sure is
- fae don't do iron
- merfolk don't do lead, cadmium or mercury
- merfolk like iron-triad metals, copper, and silver
- merfolk adore iridium
- everyone loves titanium

- nobody who is corporeal is good with actinides, but ghosts are suspected to like short-lived transuranics
- lanthanides are hit-and-miss
- some creatures are good with lead and tin but we don't know who

@diodelass Iron Dragons are good with lead and tin. We're the best soldering techs

@Motodrachen we work exclusively in lead-free and our only SMT experience is with it. stuff works great, but costs like $40 a tube.

@diodelass @Motodrachen it's marginally better than the old (leaded, rosin core) stuff we learned on, but also splatters a bit, and we've needed to use an external flux source a bit.

The lack of lead pushes the melting temp up a bit, so it's around 330c-350c before the tip is usable.

Overall, good stuff.

Definitely a bit of an adjustment tho.

@eryn @Motodrachen yeah, that sounds about right. we mostly work with rosin-core silver-copper-tin, and it does need a good bit of heat before it'll melt.
