Religion musings
I can't imagine feeling a passion for a belief system that isn't either from intrinsic merit or relationship based.
Meditation has made me realize the need to strive for peace and understanding beyond the material for my own sake in ways that a fear based Christian belief could never offer.
I still believe in and follow Jesus, but it's entirely despite, not because of the church. I'd be lying if I didn't say that there are big fear and rearing components to this still, though.

@MadestMadness Might want to check out the Gnostics.
Because I feel like the Gnostic idea of Christ is closer to a healthy belief structure.

@Motodrachen To be clear, I don't believe that now. I just mean I don't do well when left on my own to extrapolate my own beliefs from an external framework not designed to serve me first and foremost.

@Motodrachen I can see its value, but unfortunately it's just nor what I believe. I'm kinda hard-set on the idea of biblical cannon being divinely inspired. That's just kinda how my brain works. Anything that isn't self evident has to be demonstrated to me through evidence I can verify.
I've been burned badly in the past as to speculating on the nature of God, as I had at one point prior come to the undeniable assumption that God can't love me unless I'm cishet.
