Rambling, neurodivergence

Imagine that everyone is born with a little notebook. On that notebook is a list of objectives, priorities, and responsibilities you have, and everyone learns to manage them (since they had the notebook from the start).

Now, imagine you're the one kid who didn't get a notebook.
For whatever reason, you never got your notebook, and nobody ever told you that you're supposed to have one.

Rambling, neurodivergence

Most of your life you get by fine, but you're usually late, forgetful, have trouble focusing, and high priority things pile up amongst mundane stuff, and you're just lost.

Then, someone tells you about the notebook that everyone has.

You say "I never got one", but nobody understands.

"What you mean? Stop lying/being lazy/making up excuses!!! Get yourself together and use your notebook!"

But you're not lying.
You're not lazy.
It's not an excuse.

Rambling, neurodivergence

You try your hardest, but without the notebook you're never able to keep up with everyone else.

You manage to sometimes find a little piece of scrap paper. It's tiny and at any moment a wind can come and blow it away, and it often does, but you manage to do one or two things.

But it's never enough.

You keep screwing up and not getting things done because you're running around trying to catch that scrap of paper, and things around you keep piling up.

Rambling, neurodivergence

And no matter how much you try to cram into that little paper, you still can't get things done.

That's what I feel like.

I don't have a notebook.

And I don't know if it's possible to get one now, but damn do I need one.

@blackcorvo What you're describing sounds like a form of Abuse you suffered.

One of my alters is like that and it's maddening, and he hates it too. Hugely creative, passionate, Loud, but can't plan and execute anything.

His particular trauma came from being called Bossy, from being denigrated and from being told he was Wrong just to satisfy the Ego of the person saying he was Wrong.

Ironically, Plurality means your mental disorders don't just have Names, they have Home Addresses.

Your 'Notebook' was always there. Everyone has that ability, some kids get it shot off or cauterized when they're in their formative years, and never learn how to access it in a healthy way.

But Oh Boy, are there Workarounds.
