Night in the Woods spoilers, getting something off my mind

Mae Borowski is a hero, actually.

She is a mentally ill pansexual mystic (or at least her world's equivalent of one) who, after sustaining increasingly grievous physical injuries, personally tells off the eldritch abomination making her life hell before leaving it and its worshippers to starve. How freaking metal is that?

Sure, she kinda sucks as a person, but is painfully aware of this and demonstrates a willingness to learn.

@OchotonidKnight i mean, if you interpret it that way :P

@Oneironott

How do you interpret it? I'm sure that it must be interesting!

@OchotonidKnight it’s been. While since i played so forgive me…
But i recall that i parsed that at least the supernatural parts of it were presented in such a way that you aren’t really sure whether or not what is going on is tangibly real or some sort effect of the sickness Mae feels.
Either way, it doesn’t quite matter and i found that to be a very interesting point :)

I mean. You're absolutely right. It was obvious that the writers left those elements purposefully ambiguous. She even explicitly dissociates when they're right over the pit, further muddying matters.

However, even the cultists agreed that she had some sort of connection with Black Goat. It's what she did with it, I feel, that makes her a hero.

@OchotonidKnight definitely. Either way, she is a hero and i found that, and just the portrayal, to be really empowering as someone with dissociation and other mental health issues
