People piloting mechs topless is canon in Battletech because one of the bigger dangers to pilots is heat build up in the mech

Also pantsless.
It's entirely reasonable to pilot with just the neurohelmet and cooling vest on, not like anyone can see you.

@Nerts I mean, if you can't pilot a thousand-ton war machine with your junk out what's even the point of living, really? :u

@Rewhan Battletech mechs top out at 100 tons, jeez, come on

@Nerts @Rewhan The omega and the entire stupid tripod series disagree with this statement

@IrisKalmia @Rewhan They're on the same level as those crazy ass prototype tanks from ww2

@Nerts @Rewhan The wobbies did a lot of that.

The RoS actually puts the stupid tripod with three pilots into production tho.

@Nerts @Rewhan the Jihad is like, my favorite era and I hate myself for that

@Nerts @Rewhan but they only get up to I think 150 or 200, getting past that gets into really weird special rules, stuff like the Rattler II fall under that.

@IrisKalmia @Nerts @Rewhan superheavy mechs (and ultralight) exist, but they use weird, finicky rules from Interstellar Operations and don't tend to be very good. Only crazy folks make them, like the Word of Blake, the Rim Worlds Republic, and the Stoners

@Vaerinn @IrisKalmia @Nerts I have no idea what any of this means but you all seem to be enjoying talking about it so I'm just basking in your positive energy tbh. :3

@Vaerinn @Nerts @Rewhan Hey the republic of the sphere normalizes them! But I'm solidly convinced that's just Wobbies 2.0, this time with the Long Con. >_>

@IrisKalmia @Nerts @Rewhan I really hope they turn out to be Wobbies 2.0 because the Wobbies were the best supervillains.
