@Terrana@tootplanet.space There's actually a phenomenon called a legal doublet, where the standard way to refer to something in legal context is to use two synonyms, one of Germanic origin and one of Romance origin (the historical reasoning behind this, I think, is obvious). Phrases like "cease and desist", "aid and abet", "null and void", and a number of others you could find on wikipedia.

That doesn't explain the number thing, though.

@Terrana@tootplanet.space For the numbers, I'm not really sure, but Felthry guesses it might be related to the digits being quicker to scan at a glance, while the full spelling is the standard way you're supposed to do things. I can see a couple problems with that guess, but I can't think of any better one.
