Computer grumbles
Apparently Lenovo's new machines solder their RAM chips on, so no more taking the route of buying RAM on the cheap and installing it. Phooey.
Think I can still swap out the SSD if needed, though. But my laptop's from 2018, it's not THAT old. Maybe I'll just nab a new battery and fix the spacebar?
re: Computer grumbles
@Ironraptor Ah, thanks for reminding me about the frameworks laptop. Do they have the red pointer nub? I've grown very attached to it.
re: Computer grumbles
@SkunkyLass The keyboard nipple? I don't know if that's an exclusive to lenovo thing.
re: Computer grumbles
@Ironraptor Looks like it is. Hmmm.
Well, the trackpad's not so bad. Thanks for reminding me about Frameworks!
re: Computer grumbles
@SkunkyLass There's also this one though I'm not sure if you're in Canada or US (it seems ot be in US pricing) https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/ConfigureView?langId=-1&storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&catEntryId=3074457345620320837&urlLangId=&quantity=1&source=aw&subacctid=665149&subacctname=gen.video&adcampaigngroup=561219jumpid=af_gen_nc_ns&utm_medium=af&utm_source=aw&utm_campaign=gen.video&campaignID=&utm_content=665149_gen.video_&awc=7168_1668651005_0f039ca4cebc591c88bbafdde2a1a61e
re: Computer grumbles
@Ironraptor I'll look into it. Thanks again!
Computer grumbles
@SkunkyLass Welp, I guess this means my options would be a Frameworks laptop, or those new HP ones that actually can be repaired / upgraded by the end user.
