Is there a specific name for body horror burlesque? Gurolesque or something?
yes!! I've seen it played out a few different ways. My favorite was a girl stripping down, then proceeding to peel off her "skin", pull out her "heart" and "lungs", all props that she tossed aside. It was awesome.
@modernmodron but yeah, I can see it being used to express all kinds of body alienation, dysphoria, dissociation, discomfort, for all sorts of reasons. To me (as someone with dance/theatre training growing up) it's a visceral way to express very personal feelings of discomfort artistically.

of course! the beauty and complexity of "monsters" is really dear to me. I guess being a "monster" is how I conceptualize those feelings of bodily self-loathing. I really want to explore them in an artistic way, stay tuned, haha. :P
