Loneliness is a strange feeling. So painful, yet quiet, peaceful, and profound.
I would love to read both of those books. I've heard great things about the original novel.
I agree, it sounds like a lot of emotional labor to read, but I think it could be worth it. I just know for me I might have to partition out the book so I don't read it all at once, and have time to digest.
That's what I'd hope for. I like having time to unpack and then decompress when I read emotion-heavy material. I'm not usually a fan of book clubs, but in with the right group of friends reading that sort of book and meeting to discuss it could lead to some really valuable discussions.
*Yes*! I haven't read any of Bechdel's other work (I looked over Dykes To Watch Out For, but Fun Home felt more relatable). That sounds excellent, though.
I haven't been closeted for a while- I'm one of those kids who came out as queer in high school. But I am closeted about being NB to my family, so I can relate on that level.
