what otherkin means to me

I can't speak for others, but frankly: while basically none of us are about to tell you we don't possess human bodies, frankly, what form one presently has is wholly and entirely fucking irrelevant to one's actual identity.

We're sapient beings; defining who we are ourselves, regardless of whatever the hell nature has to say about it has kind of been our whole -thing- since we collectively separated from the other apes to begin with.

To me, being kin with something simply means to very strongly identify with it, to the point where it accurately describes the inner self, or at least an important part of it. The true self. The one that in a perfect world, you'd have your physical form reflect if given the chance. Frankly, *especially* as a community full of trans folks (being one myself, mind you!), we of all people should know better than to equate physical presentation to one's actual inner self, doubly so on something for which ways to alleviate it are even less (read: not at all) available than for say, gender.

Now, would I become the jackalesque alien you see in my avatar here, you ask? Fuck yes I would, and while I again can't speak for others directly, from what I've gathered tons of other folks feel the same way about this shit.

Let's not act like a bunch of fucking cops to each other on this subject, shall we?
