cannabis

I’ve been overusing cannabis again and just making myself feel like crap. It has few positive effects when I overuse it, it just feels compulsive or obligatory because I get increasingly stressful dreams when I stop.

Well, I guess that’s what addiction and dependence is like, right? And I already know what to do about it: stop.

Easier said than done, but that doesn’t matter; I must. So I will. I’m cleaning my vaporizer and putting it away, and do not intend to use it again.

Thaaaat's about where I was a few months back. The sober dreams suuuuuuck and I might've even rambled about them here before on Masto.

After stopping for months I came back to it with a better balance and more awareness of it, it's been helpful in turn that way and more enjoyable.

@Veladynee I should stop for a month at a minimum. My last few attempts to stop were abandoned after about two weeks each, and both of those were intended to be permanent.

Which suggests I genuinely should stop permanently because while both of those longer breaks reset my usage patterns to more appropriate ones for a while, it keeps escalating to an unhealthy point. If I keep developing an unhealthy relationship with cannabis, maybe it’s not the right choice for me.

@kistaro *Nods.* Makes sense. I suppose I have gotten into the cycle of it reaching unhealthy levels, I just put it down for a bit, then come back to it. Rinse, repeat.

Though I also have been limiting myself for the sake of my partner too, which in a way forces healthier regulation for myself.

I suppose it just comes down to finding a balance of some kind, and on this I've got no words of wisdom as I'm far from perfect with it.
