angry about people violating informed consent re: food choices
Getting angry after remembering this one post that went around where someone talked about how, as a fast-food worker, they'd intentionally fill cups with non-diet soda when someone ordered the diet version, because something something "fighting oppressive beauty standards"
It's such a shitty thing on so many levels. You've got:
- The scumminess of someone deceiving another person as to what said person is putting into their body, purely because of moral judgements about their assumed motivations for their decision
- The fact that, if someone *is* trying to lose weight due to body image issues, secretly sabotaging their efforts will just make any self-hatred worse, since now they're not only unhappy with their body, they've found themselves unable to change it
- The fact that people order diet sodas for other reasons, most notably *being diabetic*, where not carefully tracking one's sugar intake (or, say, being tricked regarding it) can result in *hospitalization and possibly death*
Just, fuck.
