@HeyMarkL Yeah, definitely seems confusing. Why would we need multiple accounts for one network.. :|
@azzronulation @HeyMarkL it's really complicated there doesn't seem to be consistency across the instances. I was thinking the instances are just different servers to join on but it's like it's almost* independent of each other
@azzronulation @HeyMarkL @evanrodgers you shouldn't need multiple accounts.
not that it matters, but awoo federates with the main instance only (instead of the whole fediverse), buuuttt mastodon.social is under super heavy load right now, so that might be why the public and local timelines appear the same from here
@Ludonaut @HeyMarkL @evanrodgers So will our awoo accounts work on Mastodon?
@azzronulation @HeyMarkL @evanrodgers you mean will you be able to login to mastodon.social using your awoo.space credentials? no. accounts are separate.
but you are able to follow and communicate with mastodon.social users by tagging their @handle and adding the instance at the end. in this case, e.g. a user on masto would be @handle@mastodon.social (just an example, i hope that account doesn't actually exist)
@azzronulation @HeyMarkL @evanrodgers real life example: i'm @Ludonaut here (actually @Ludonaut but same-instance is omitted) and @ludonaut@mastodon.social over there
@Ludonaut @HeyMarkL @evanrodgers riiiiiiight. Seems complicated :joy:
@azzronulation @HeyMarkL @evanrodgers (that second one was written as 'at ludonaut at awoo dot space' & got converted automagically it seems)
@azzronulation @HeyMarkL @evanrodgers it is complicated but not unlike email. decentralization and federation are important or we end up with another hellbird site
@azzronulation a little confusing still, but i heard you'll be able to see them, but I'm also checking out my acct at mastodon.xyz and there's waaaaay more users there.
