It encourages shock jocks to say controversial bullshit, because they know people will boost their horrible content just to dunk on it, which necessarily puts *even more eyes* on it. It's literally a mechanism for encouraging jerks to make other people mad, for clout.

@zkat well i'm not trying argue that, because it's out of my lane. what i was hoping to do is amplify someone with who has a stake in how these systems work,
which i have failed to, possibly because of the horribleness.
