So the all the newcomer advice has me thinking about habits here.

I deliberately try to limit how often I boost stuff from accounts I don't follow? I feel like bird site and book site slowly have had the ratio of reposted to original content creep upwards, and that lead to a subtle feeling of restriction and irrelevance.

And we can try not to do that here? We're here for each other, not strangers. And if a side effect is it being much harder for random posts to blow up and get in front of 100k eyeballs... that's a good thing, I think.

tl;dr boosts are fine but think about the cultural effects of boosting too much.

Relatedly: I hadn't caught up on here since yesterday or Sunday, and I come back to find ~630 messages. A lot of those being boosts from various people I follow. :-/
