@green I think I might be qualified here, given my {REGULAR PONY} friend of the same name. A Schadenfreude should be something sweet, sour, and a bit astringent. Greenish-yellow, suitably changeling colors. Maybe a sweet black coffee drink with a floater of something herbal and nasty on top, like chartreuse or absinthe, like some sort of Caffe Incorretto? O:)

Looks like "flip" can mean a beer cocktail or something with frothed egg white. Hmmm. Changeling eggs. O:)

@zebratron2084 in my imagination "Schadenfreude" is--like Goldshlager; something you get in a bottle, pre-mixed--yeah, sweet, sour, and bitter, with a sharp kick. I like the frothed egg white... I was thinking the "flip" would involve some kind of rather nasty diet soda, like diet Mountain Dew. and an egg white. BLEARGH XD

@green I think the real core of a "flip" is the carbonation. I'm guessing the beer and sugar did it in the original by frothing up a whole bunch of little nucleation sites, so a soda-based flip would probably be perfectly valid! (FWIW, I would probably make it that way anyhow, since i loathe any sort of detectable egg in food. Eggs are for cakes, end of file. -_- )

@zebratron2084 ooh, yeah, that makes sense. and like I'm not suggesting this as a drink that people should actually drink, the idea is that it's inherently horrible and nobody actually *wants* it. Schadenfreude straights are an acquired taste to begin with, but even people who like those don't like the flips. XD
