When you're from a background like mine (and I actually think this is way more common around here than not) there's a bad overlap between "you can't do what you want because it's costly or impractical" with "you can't do what you want to do because you've internalized that wanting things or spending time/money on YOUR wants is reprehensible."
This tangential to wanting to take off south to visit the FLGS, hang out in a fave coffee shop to draw.

@Leucrotta yesssss. I've had to work hard to overcome that, it's taken a really long time and I'm still not completely over it. :/
@green It plays into the foreshortened future and having a brain which is literally not great at thinking far in advance. It's hard to tell when I honestly would be better served doing something else (eg, cook at home rather than getting food out).
