Emotional labiilty

My afternoon:

* Putter around the house feeling aimless and cruddy

* Go for a walk, discover a secret way into the cool riverside abandoned lot down the road, much excitement and glee

* Come home, productively take measurements for the yard project, until enthusiasm tips over into an overwhelming feeling of helplessness about ever being able to do what I want with it.

* Spend the next hour or so crying, mostly.

What even does my brain thing it is doing.

Seriously, how do people figure out how to take care of land; helping my parents weed never prepared me for this. >.<

@indi I think it's easier when it's your land.

It's fun to try new landscaping ideas.

@ThatDamnCat It is, at least in legal terms, 'my' land. And I still have no idea what I'm doing. It looked so nice when we got here and now just... increasingly overgrown, which I actually mostly like, except where it covers up the nice bits like the rockwork?

@indi

Yeah, I hear that. It would look best with weekly edging, and weekly mowing helps the grass grow thicker along the ground.

I love the possibilities with landscaping, especially stonework. It's a great aesthetic.

Hope you show a pic of the land someday

@ThatDamnCat I don't even want a lawn, would love to just have a lot of stonework with native plants and some veggie beds. But the grass is just THERE and is SO GOOD at covering up all the nice rocks we do have. >.<
