Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe the reason it's been tough to read books these days is because there often isn't room in life for things that require unbroken time and a deep, focused engagement.

It's a straight-up struggle to hoard your attention for what really matters.

I have a hard time filtering out noise (especially voices), and it can be a challenge to create a quiet space that allows me to choose my focus.

That being said, I haven't really knuckled down to do that consistently. Maybe being more protective of my space from distractions...

...is the way to prioritize reading and writing. But it will also make me feel like I'm not spending enough of my energy on friends, or anything else I really want to be doing.

I wish I could make a decision on this and just deal with the consequences as they come.
