Starship Troopers (film): overrated or underrated?

My take: doesn't understand fascism or its source material deeply enough to be interesting satire, and doesn't have the courage to be challenging even if it did. It loses track of being satire in the process of being caught up in being an action movie.

The result is completely incoherent.

And I love it for it. It's a sloppy, glorious mess.

Underrated.

@starkatt It made more sense to me once I figured out that it was supposed to be an in-universe artifact of Federation propaganda. Granted, i only figured that out about 10 years after it came out and was capable of that kind of meta-thinking. On release, I just thought it was an entertaining action movie.
