[1.Ch.] Endgame (Spoilers)

Upon reflection, Endgame is, for me, less than the sum of its parts.

Yes, it has many good moments. Yes, the ending is a tearjerker. Yes, the gay nod and the A-Force lineup and your fave got a cool moment. Everyone gets a cool moment.

Except Nebula and Black Widow. Nebula shoots her past self in a setting that can't be assed to explain whether that's suicide in the present. Natasha commits suicide on an alien planet so Hawkeye can come home to his family.

[1.Ch.] Endgame (Spoilers)

I wanted to love this film. I can't.

I can't love a film whose prequel sets up a showdown between Thanos and Captain Marvel, then ends by having her deliver the gauntlet to Tony so the character who can't _not_ martyr himself (seriously, he tries in almost every MCU film) can blow himself up.

I can't love a film that tortures its female heroes in the dark and can't even honor their struggles with a nod during the rich white guy's funeral gala.

@orrery I thought the support group scene was pretty unsatisfying tokenism. And it didn't make it better when I learned that he was played by one of the directors.

And I totally agree in thinking that Carol should've been wearing Infinity Gauntlet v2 when she beat Thanos' ass.

But honestly, it was really satisfying getting the full "Avengers, Assemble" line after getting blue-balled for for 4 years from Age of Ultron.

re: [1.Ch.] Endgame (Spoilers)

@kelseyhusky I'm happy to acknowledge that any specific moment was, for someone, the defining scene of the film, and that that moment made the movie worthwhile for them.

This in no way changes my overall claim that the film is shoddily assembled out of those moments in ways that, for me, detracts from those moments.

re: [1.Ch.] Endgame (Spoilers)

@orrery Granted, valid, and agreed with. I definitely wasn't trying to say Endgame was flawless.
