The internet is The Force
It has a light side: Masto, Cat videos, Dog pictures, Furries, cosplay tutorials, neat and silly fun timewasters, THE SUM OF ALL HUMAN KNOWLEDGE, and access to more sentient minds than can possible be comprehended, except by aliens (and David Bowie, if that's not a redundancy in terms)
It has a dark side: Twitter, Facebook, "The Dark Web", racists, white supremacists, GamerGaters, furries, TERFS, Minion memes. scammers, ads, auto-playing ads, auto-playing music that you can't find the source of, algorithmic tracking and demographic profiling in the name of the soul-sucking hellbeast that is capitalism.
It's an energy field created by all living things: Online content, even the Machine Learning/AI-generated content (optimized for clicks, views, and monetization/exploitation) finds its genesis somewhere in a human brain.
It surrounds us, and penetrates us: Wi-fi, Mobile broadband, satellite transmissions.
and it binds the planet together: There is a physical wrapping of tamed light and electricity trapped in metal that is literally wrapped around the surface of our planet.
