solarpunk isn't just that, IME. It's also the ethos of reclaiming off-limits spaces in order to re-purpose them into the sustainable, community-focused, un-capitalistic, and socialist infrastructre the powers that are/were didn't allow to be created/implemented. It's multi-cultural and queer as hell.
Breaking into a private beach to install a desalinization plant to provide water for a community free garden is solarpunk as fuck.
@ctrlaltdog@chitter.xyz @adeptomega I mean, solar panels on everything is a very awesome aesthetic and I support it way more than gears and cogs and brass and Victorianism, but the /why/ of the solar panels is also super important to me.
