re: brain weird
@body@mastodon.social it's a well regarded anime and manga by Yoshihiro Togashi, who is married to the creator of sailor moon creator Naoko Takeuchi.
It's about a shitty kid who dies then gets a second chance as a supernatural problem solvey type of guy. It's relatively standard but people remember it very fondly in spite of it's 90's flavour shittiness. It has no end, because Togashi worked himself almost to death (the only way he knows how to work).
Post YYH he went on to make hunter x hunter, a series with such a specific magic system, that characters in the show find video game style exploits to fight through otherwise untenable situations. It's one of the best manga and most important manga in modern times, to the extent of being cited as an inspiration for naruto (naruto characters are all a 13 year old's understanding of HXH characters); but it's often weird and impenetrable because of Togashi's innumerable untreated brain problems, which cause dizzying fluctuations in quality and multi-year hiatuses; and frequent near-fatal overwork spurts. The 148 episode MADHOUSE anime adaptation is very enjoyable given how esoteric the structure of the manga gets, to the point where it was commonly thought that later arcs would be un-adaptable.

@body@mastodon.social the magic system is so robust I once wrote a tabletop system on top of it
