@Wsteria@tootplanet.space Well, when I'm trying to figure out how a character needs to change over the course of a story, I ask where I want a character to end up, and then I ask what it would take to push that character to that state. Then I ask how to set up that situation, and I look for seeds in what I already know about the setting or the character to give me a starting point to write the scene.

@Wsteria@tootplanet.space Like, in the story I'm currently building, I have a character I want to end up questioning the foundations of his world, so I asked "what would it take somebody to doubt everything they believed in?" So, I set up a situation in which he's done everything right by his ethics as he understands it, and he's still on the verge of collapse. And then I force him to confront somebody who ruins his big plan to run away from his problems.
