my right joycon is drifting, curse you Nintendo for using these cheap flimsy analog sticks

@MochiWaifu from what I can tell my options are

1) pay seventy fucking euros for a new pair
2) buy a new stick from China and try not to break my joycon when swapping it in and then hope the new stick isn't worse

@noiob

regarding 2)
i opened up my left one to fix the connectivity issues and... it was surprisingly easy. if you're gentle (and i'm a grobmotoriker) nothing should break :3 no clue about the quality of the sticks tho, apparently nintendo just buys them from a chinese reseller too

there's a third option tho
a lot of people are claiming using contact cleaner on the stick works, but only for a couple of months before you have to reclean it

it's not too bad i guess

@MochiWaifu hmm, from what I've seen the construction is pretty cheap and prone to wear… I guess I'll try getting a replacement stick

@noiob yeah, apparently it rubs off the actual like, connection? so the contact cleaner just temporarily improves the connection

it's super awful that nintendo would use such low quality parts :c

@MochiWaifu fyi I tried contact cleaner and it seems to have worked perfectly, I wonder how long it'll last

@noiob niice!!
guess i should get some myself huh :V

did you just apply it from the outside or did you dismantle it first?

@MochiWaifu there's a kinda rubber skirt around the actual stick (it's the part that looks sperical) that lifts up really easily with like the tip of a tweezer or sth. The potentiometers are on the bottom right on the right joycon
