being annoyed at Telegram

also I'm kinda sad that all of my friends use Telegram now… okay, it's better than Skype, which we used before, but it's just getting worse?

  • the feature where you can delete other people's messages
  • the animated stickers that you can't stop from animating [at least once]
  • when you send a single emoji there's a chance it'll get turned into a sticker without that being communicated anywhere or any way to turn that off I think? (try 👍 or ♥)

re: being annoyed at Telegram

@mkb I mean it's a working group chat IM, it's not rocket surgery. I don't think any of the other instant messengers are significantly worse except for maybe Signal (not knocking Singnal it's just really barebones)

A good thing about Telegram is that it has proper desktop apps, which e.g. Whatsapp just doesn't

@noiob afaik the last thing can be disabled in the iOS app by going settings -> appearance -> turning off large emoji, idk about other platforms

re: being annoyed at Telegram

@hierarchon Oh! I thought that just affected how they get displayed!

re: being annoyed at Telegram

@hierarchon HAHAHA that's exactly what it does, I see an emoji on my computer while my phone has the annoying animation

I just wanna send people a 👍 without looking like a person who'd send an animated sticker 😭
