bold of Sony to break with the Dualshock tradition and go for a new revolutionary design

@noiob hot take: i honestly kind of find the boomerang controller endearing

you can see a lot of things in it where its like "hm, okay, i see what they were going for it" but they failed to take in a lot of things

like ergonomics,

@noiob i feel like. there is something there though? like i really like just how things are positioned there and the general shape of it

with some tweaking it'd probably be a pretty neat little thing

@pupy though to be fair the Dualshock 3 is pretty great, Sony's been great at doing incremental updates to their controller

@noiob i would agree if it werent for the fact that the ds4 is infinitely better in almost every way,

@noiob namely the triggers and the fact that the handles are finally long enough so htat people with hands can actually hold it and not be massively uncomfortable after 5 minutes

@pupy I really don't like the way the DS4 feels in my hand, the DS3 isn't super good either but I guess I have more mileage on that design so I got used to it

@noiob fair

controllers are a mess tbh. xb1 is alright but i still find the dpad a bit iffy

@pupy from the little time I've used the Xbone controller I really liked how clicky the D-Pad was, but anything's better than what they tried to pass as one before :D

the best controllers for my hands are the Switch Pro and the Steam Controller

@pupy oh and the extra rumble motors in the triggers on the Xbone pad are so cool

@noiob @pupy they're SO good for racing games like forza, and i wish every controller had them

@MochiWaifu @pupy wish they worked on non-Windows-Store apps on PC lol

@noiob @pupy they do on like... 1 game i know of
F1 2019 or something?
i think codemasters kinda cheated and included JUST the uwp xinput dll in the folder lol

but yeah, they're technically not supported by non uwp and it sucks T_T

@MochiWaifu @pupy I don't actually have one (I use my wired 360 pad for everything on PC if I can't use the Steam Controller) or nowadays the Switch Controller via the 8bitdo

@noiob god the 360 controller is such a mess i hate how it became the universal standard one for pcs

switch pro is good but the dpad is terrible x-x

@pupy you can make the D-Pad better by putting tape on the contacts, there's a few youtube tutorials, it went from unusable to pretty okay for me

though nowadays I use the official SNES switch controller for D-Pad-heavy games, it's so goood

@noiob thats kinda my issue,

i, me, an inept clumsy fuckhead, do no trust me, to open up a $60 fancy controller to fix something that shouldnt need fixing x-x

@noiob see also the fact that my main use of it would be for on pc bc i have a switch lite and if im buying a new pc controller i may as well just go for a ds4 cos i know i like those.

theyre also cheaper and kinda work a bit better '3';;

@pupy 🤷

the Switch Pro works beautifully over regular Bluetooth, for the record

@noiob ah, really? i wasnt actually aware. i was under the assumption that you had to do steam big picture fuckery to make it work but thats nice to know

@pupy I don't have a bluetooth stick here but I think it should just work over directinput? but who supports that lol

also the Steam gamepad thing has gotten quite good, you don't need to launch Big Picture anymore

@noiob oh thank fucking god

that was always my biggest issue with the steam controller after the whole. not really digging how it contorls (i never had the willpower to keep using it x-x)

@pupy I love mine but it's basically made as a mouse-and-keyboard replacement

I heard that it can be really good if you get used to using the touchpads instead of sticks
