@onfy old tech is the only tech that's repairable at all… on a modern TV you have to replace the whole board if one component breaks
@noiob No one cares sadly. When I try explaining that they just make like an ostrich.
@noiob I think the explanation was "I used to know a guy who repaired TVs but he's dead now so I guess no one knows how anymore"
bitch, you're 80, almost everyone you know is dead...
@noiob Anyway, it's pretty tempting to find someone who really knows their way around analogue circuitry to make this TV combo unit work like new again... it's so large though, I honestly want to get rid of it to have more space.
On the other hand, my grandmother has this beautiful RCA, much smaller and in better shape, says it's junk and wants to throw it away!
@onfy yeah, I know the dilemma :/
@noiob Oh to have a larger space... but then when I want to have more space for more things I'm called a hoarder. Having several CRT TVs isn't that weird, right...?
@onfy you should see my parents' basement
@noiob Bad?
@onfy eh, it's not that bad, there's just a lot of old tech in various states of working to in parts
@onfy ha! my dad used to repair CRTs and occasionally still does, he fixed my cute lil Trinitron right up
@noiob Well, this person is also of the opinion that everything can (still) be found in the phone book, so...
@onfy I haven't looked in a phone book in so long lol
@onfy actually, come to think of it, when I don't have internet I can't call anyone anyways
@noiob At this point you can't even call anyone without electricity. VoIP, but who needs battery backup?
@noiob That's what pisses me off when people say old tech like this is too hard to repair. Just because you're an idiot, doesn't mean it's impossible!
Though it's extremely large...
