@noiob there isn't even any widely deployed standard for voice mail *at all* beyond the fact that it's accessible by calling a number
@ChlorideCull lmao I thought they hid it when it's not enabled
@ChlorideCull that said somehow my phone knows what my voicemail number is without me setting it up
also at least they're offering to send my voicemail calls via MMS but that still sounds like stone age stuff versus just having it in the phone app
@noiob carrier config bundle on both iOS and Android :)
@ChlorideCull at the same time the configs for VoWifi have to be baked into the OS so :flip_table:
@noiob that's also part of the carrier bundle on iOS - it can be updated over the air these days.
@ChlorideCull I'm glad iPhone users have that option now. Good for them.
@noiob Android apparently handles it by giving an app signed with a cert that matches one on the SIM more permissions https://source.android.com/devices/tech/config/carrier
@ChlorideCull that's pretty new
@ChlorideCull well, I recall my LG G6 getting VoWifi support with Oreo but not supporting my carrier
@ChlorideCull I mean my carrier could've probably done something about that…
