this is one of those things that's painfully obvious in hindsight, but basically every game that uses vector graphics at all (3D or 2D) should have the option to:

  1. scale the window without scaling the viewport (upscale after render)
  2. letterbox the window
  3. scale the environment without scaling the HUD (lower fidelity graphics while still keeping text readable)

like, drawing sprites on the HUD is cheap but drawing the actual environment is expensive, so, why not let us view the HUD at full resolution while scaling down the environment? please
