bird website
Hey folks! Chitter has been subject to censoring on the bird website, so I've set up a domain redirect if you wish to share links to Chitter on the bird site. Please do not use obvious keywords with links that use this domain otherwise it will also likely get censored.
the domain itself does not use https so please only use http if you wish to post a redirect.
bird website
Update on this: it seems twitter is actually pulling metadata from links then using that to determine whether it is a mastodon instance then later flagging the addresses. If you have linked a mastodon instance on a public account (I cannot confirm if this also counts for private accounts) it will most certainly get added to the blacklist. There is nothing I can do about this unless I set up a redirect that bounces to another middleman URL that strips the metadata.
re: bird website
@Violet it responds to the standard mastodon api calls
re: bird website
@noiob I guess it depends what's being scraped?
re: bird website
@noiob when I post an awoo link on twitter it doesn't have any metadata attached besides the domain name
re: bird website
@Violet yeah idk why that is, we definitely have opengraph tags https://www.opengraph.xyz/url/https%3A%2F%2Fawoo.space
re: bird website
@noiob weird, I suspect that may be a factor as to why it hasn't been blacklisted though since it's not actually properly being scraped
re: bird website
@Violet eh, they probably just fed some list of instances into their backend
re: bird website
@Violet good chance that awoo didn't show up because limited federation mode makes us show up less
re: bird website
@noiob if they did that it wouldn't make sense as to why the redirect domain I set up today worked for a few hours then stopped working
re: bird website
@Violet hm. I just don't think that they'd want to put any real work into this useless blocking mechanism
re: bird website
@noiob awoo is running glitch though
