I wonder how hard it'd be to convince them to legislate putting fuses in extension cords. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_q-xnYRugQ
@onfy honestly the british way of putting fuses in plugs sounds pretty sensible at some point
@noiob The British do it for completely different (and honestly idiotic) reasons but yeah.
The really funny thing with British fused plugs is that puzzle Broken Sword had about them... naturally it confused me and probably everyone else.
@onfy no I get that they only have them because they needed to save copper post-war, but for extension cords it'd make sense
have I ever posted about how I'm mad about Tom Scott's "the British plug is the best" video because Schuko is so much better
@noiob I just find the whole ring circuit design awful and wish they could redo it by now, but yeah it was made to save resources. And really what hasn't been shaped by cutting corners?
And yeah Schuko is probably among the best plugs...
@onfy it's interesting that post-war Germany didn't come up with sth like that but instead made the most overengineered plug possible… or it's newer, I don't care to look it up rn :D
@onfy how so?
@noiob I'm kind of amazed much of anything survived the war.
@onfy uhhh, most things did, post-war germany had better things to do than redesign their industrial standards
@onfy German industrial standards are actually a product of WWI
@noiob I just assumed not much of the country was left by then.
@onfy I mean, they didn't raze the country
@onfy sure, there was plenty of destruction, especially in cities and heavy industry, but the country didn't start from zero lol
@noiob I sure am ignorant...
@onfy 's not like I know much about Canadian history
@onfy well, I do know about the part with the boarding schools but I didn't learn that in school
@noiob Don't worry, they don't teach us that either...
@noiob That's surprising...
