ponderings on news orgs on the fediverse
Over the past year or so, with all the folk arriving from birdsite, I've been wondering: do I actually want news orgs on the fediverse?
That's not to say I don't want to see them here - but, the more I think about it, I don't really want to subscribe to news stories just popping up in my Home timeline (invariably without any subject lines or content warnings); it's just not a good fit. Better, I'm feeling, to simply continue as is, visiting their sites when I wish.
Perhaps more useful would be if such orgs/companies' presence here were actually conversing with people here, as distinct from the old model of top-down "here is what we consider to be news. Suck it up" stories, strictly from them, to us.
