240p Test Suite doesn't seem to run on PS3 either... I grabbed the "real console" version but the main difference seems to be that the console stops the disc motor somehow? and the emulator doesn't. Maybe I'll just put the emulator build on the disc? Or leave it out entirely.
If I really wanna see how it runs on a PS2 I could try burning it to a CD-RW...
Stopping the drive motor is indeed the only difference between builds. There's an if for it in the source code, send the command if running the realhw build. I guess emulators including Duckstation and the official PS3 emulator can't handle this.
Is it even worth doing on a real console?
@onfy I mean it's gonna keep it from wearing out and it'll be a tiny bit quieter. I'm sure people who use it all day to test CRTs and stuff appreciate that
@noiob I don't foresee myself running it for more than a few minutes at a time is the thing. Also, couldn't you open the disc cover to stop the motor manually?
@onfy it's a feature to stop disc swapping, you need to stick the lid open switch down to perform one. Multi-disc games have to specifically unlock the disc tray to allow you to swap in a new disc
@noiob I guess that explains why games don't display a special message like on Gamecube, but again, mine doesn't reset. The game just keeps running but the motor stops, and the game is unable to load any more data, eventually getting stuck when it expects the CD drive to respond...
Fuck it, it's a few hundred KB, maybe I'll just include both builds.
