wait, does every redump page just say edc yes

this tool exists and seems to use ecc/edc to correct a rip github.com/saramibreak/EccEdc
this sounds like some disc have messed up error correction on purpose to slow down ripping forum.daemon-tools.cc/forum/co

@noiob AFAIK it's DRM to help them detect incorrectly burned copies?

my problem is I'm evil and making a compilation disc so possibly not preserving any such protection. there's no obvious errors but the RNG in Tetris on my compilation disc feels more rude... which would be funny DRM.

@onfy ah yeah a standard cd burner would obviously correct any errors it comes across

@noiob many burners can do raw burning but you still need a program that supports it... but the main thing is I'm building my own cursed bin, if I was just burning a dump of the original disc it'd be easier.

@onfy ISOs won't contain the ECC data though, would they

@noiob of course they would. it'd be a rubbish dump if the images didn't contain an accurate, functioning copy of the game.

@onfy the CD standard has built-in error correction, or is that only audio? you obviously don't need that info to run the software, it's just for the drive to correct scratches

@noiob audio has error correction and data has extra correction

the trick is with Playstation discs is they hijack the correction codes to stuff more data into them.
