oh look at what dropped today, hopefully Alex's optimized settings will make things slightly better
I mentioned the lackluster accessibility settings in Starfield
one important thing that is missing is a FOV (field of view) slider and this game's default FOV is downright claustrophobic
a first person AAA game in 2023 shipping without a FOV slider is quite frankly unacceptable
its the most basic accessibility setting y'all
so the reason I dislike the digipick lockpicking system is that it is essentially a shitty puzzle
and that's like one of my biggest pet peeves in video games
I don't like puzzles in video games and video games that are not puzzle games usually put in the most uninteresting puzzles in the name of idk...some sort of barrier, another mechanic? its on some AAA game dev checklist somewhere?
the thing about Starfield that's really getting me is that I care about none of the characters, major or minor and the narrative is not doing anything to make me care
like I could put up with bad menu UX, mediocre procgen if the narrative and the characters were making me feel things but they aren't
coming to this from BG3, it just all feels very tropey and by the numbers
hahahaha omg

"Starfield players are reporting a bug that prevents them from firing their weapons in the game. The easiest solution? Changing your character’s gender. If you started with a male character, changing it to female in one of the game’s genetics facilities fixes the bug, and the opposite is true as well."

@packetcat remember that that disables achievements, so if you still want those tracked there's a mod to fix that
