starting Assassin's Creed Mirage 👀
played a couple hours and yeah this is everything I hoped for
return to the old school style of AC with a focus on stealth set in a historical setting I actually am looking forward to exploring (Abbasid era Baghdad)
played a bunch more of Mirage today
so nice to play a mainline AC game that's smaller in scope and more focused than what we've been getting over the past few games
having Altair from AC1's outfit and Ezio from AC: Revelations' outfit as costumes for Basim in this game is a nice touch for those of us who've played those games
(they are part of the uPlay Rewards for this game)
the target of my latest investigation in this game is a tax collector which applies another historical aspect from the Abbasid period to this game
namely the jizya (a tax) that was applied to dhimmis (non Muslims) in the Abbasid Caliphate

yep there is the little factoid in the game about taxes in the Abbasid Caliphate
one of the cool things about Assassin's Creed Mirage that one of the main characters, Roshan is voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo
some of y'all may know her from her appearance in The Expanse TV show as Chrisjen Avasarala
such an unique voice, I immediately knew it was her as soon as I heard Roshan's voice
oh god I *completely* forgot that Basim (the main character of Mirage) was in Assassin's Creed Valhalla and also the absolutely bonkers ending of Valhalla's story

always incredible to see just how many people worked on these games
that's usually why I let the credits roll all the way on games I finish
the orchestral/instrumental music in this game was done by the New York Arabic Orchestra
we are about 40ish minutes and the credits are still rolling heh
im kinda zoned out hearing the music playing on loop, its nice
and there it is, nearly 50 minutes of credits later we are done \o/
@packetcat wow, that's longer than ffxiv's and those got people kicked from the game for inactivity
well except the ones where they included all 1.0 player names
@packetcat then again square probably outsources way less than ubisoft, and they include stuff like external sensitivity readers and acessibility consultant agencies now
