so, I wasted about 4 hours of my day to figure out that the raspberry pi camera module I have has the same rolling effect with my grow light as my other crappy cam and no configuration is fixing this.

I guess only a light filter in front of the lens could fix this; would need something that can reduce the amount of light passing through.

@JennyFluff they make a global shutter pi camera but it's 'spensive

@noiob at this point I don't know if I can camera at a reasonable price to work.

I get the rolling shutter with my crappy surveillance cam, two phone cameras that I tried, and that raspi camera 1.

I don't have a rolling shutter with my 5DS. But heck, if I were to use that I need a gantry (the grow box frame can't handle the weight) and a way to protect itself and the lens from moisture.

I guess that global shutter camera could be a solution, but it's resolution is rather poor and the pictures I have seen don't fill me with confidence - This is clearly a device intended for computer vision

@noiob though I am gonna try with my semi-broken 5D2 I have - its preview screen is broken, but HDMI out works perfectly..
