The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out in the next year and I'm having a really hard time imagining what they're going to do to outdo PC handhelds like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and others.

EDIT: For me, I mean. I've stopped using my Switch since getting the ROG Ally. I feel like the Switch was amazinb, but now I have something that fits my personal use case better.

@pandora_parrot they really don't have to, they're a whole different class of device

@noiob Maybe it's just me, but I feel like PC handhelds are hitting similar price points lately, with better performance, larger game libraries, and such.

I mean. Obvs. there's Nintendo exclusives, and they make a nice cohesive experience and that's worth a lot. But the PC handheld market is catching up big time IME.

@pandora_parrot they're so unwieldy compared to the super portable Switch

if it was just price/performance desktop PCs would've beaten consoles

@noiob From what I see, PC gaming is on the rise vs. console gaming. I wonder if the rise of increasingly portable and useful handhelds is part of that.

I'm actually seeing some folks suggest some of these PC handhelds are more comfortable to use than the Switch.

Though you're right that Nintendo is still doing particularly well there. Still, that feels like a temporary difference. I'm really interested in this next generation.

@pandora_parrot there's still a huge market of people who don't wanna have to tinker at all + also kids/families

@noiob Oh for sure. I didn't articualte it well, but I'm thinking about this in terms of my personal usage, not in terms of, like, the market. Though I do wonder if the market is going to change around that...
