Why is it that Bluetooth kinda seems to have stalled as a technology lately despite being used increasingly especially for audio with audio jacks being removed?

The official codecs that don’t require additional proprietary licensing are old and less efficient than modern stuff we could use
Latency is not ideal, both for audio where there’s often a delay with video content, but also if using Bluetooth as an input like for a mouse or keyboard

I know some improvements have come about like BLE but that’s not new by now
And surely despite the backward compatibility necessities of the protocol we can surely do better?

pretty sure software is supposed to compensate for that by delaying the video

@noiob definitely, but some headphones still seem to have it worse than others. And even then reducing the latency in the first place could surely help.
